Authentication

Who’s in Charge? You Decide.

1. No Authentication

Applying the “No Authentication” setting means that the Netsentron administrator is not making use of the option of having groups, which may or may not contain usernames and passwords. There is no username and password prompt when users are using the web with the Netsentron filter on.

2. NetSentron Authentication

NetSentron Authentication will allow manually redirecting of each user through the NetSentron proxy server. Selecting this setting will prompt each user for a username and password when opening a browser. Usually a Windows Server with Active Directory is not present within the company to authenticate the users.

3. Active Directory Authentication

The NetSentron is capable of authenticating users against an Active Directory server to validate their username and password. It’s supported on Windows Server 2000 and Server 2003. This can be done in two ways: single sign on where any machine already logged on to the Domain will automatically pass its credentials on to the NetSentron; or, if not logged in, a dialog will come up asking for a valid username and password.
