All Web Content Filters work the same, right?
Wrong, there are many different methods of content or web filtering;
most involve using a big list of banned domain names, and IP Addresses.
Some take it a step further and will have a regular expression check
on the URL to see if it matches a list of bad words.
Most of these are really Web Filters as they do not look at the
content contained in the page, but merely the URL or IP Address.
Very few offer TRUE Content Filtering where the actual contents
of the page are analyzed for content and the filter dynamically
determines whether the page should or should not be blocked.
The NetSentron® is one of the few that offers TRUE Content
Filtering.
Another feature of the Content filter is *Ident Authentication.
This allows the NetSentron to identify the users on the LAN by their
login name. The username will then show up in the Web Access Logs,
making it simpler for the administrator to match user names rather
than matching IP addresses to a computer.
